President’s Message March 2018

Greetings Members,

Can you believe it’s March already? The year is flying by, and while I know we have all been busy, now is a great time in between the extremes of the seasons to perform general maintenance within your facilities. Tap into your Chief Engineers Association resources and get out your Quick Shoppers! A multitude of trusted vendors can be found on that list to help perform checks such as infrared inspections for energy and cost savings or fire alarm inspections. Now is also a good time to inspect the insulation on all of your mechanical piping exposed to the extreme temperatures we have experienced. And don’t forget the roofing and drainage systems. These are all things that if we just take an extra few minutes to focus our energy on, could save us time and expenses in the future. Our Associate Members are just a phone call away, and I am more than confident in the services they can provide.

March is an exciting month in the organization as we celebrate our ever-popular St. Patrick’s Day meeting! We will be hosting another great event at the Irish American Heritage Center on Wednesday, March 21. Wear your favorite Irish hat or sweater and get ready for a jig with music from The Boils. The night would not be complete without a Guinness in your favorite commemorative event mug. I can’t wait to raise a glass to this great organization with you!

In April, we will be hosting our meeting at Ridge Country Club on the South Side, featuring two vendor presentations from ComEd Energy Efficiency Program and H-O-H Water Technology. I urge everyone to get there early to get a seat. We will also be starting a new association tradition — the first 52 people to arrive will receive a playing card that enters you into a raffle for a Yeti Cooler! Be sure to get there early to be a part of the raffle and to hear from our trusted members. I expect a packed house for these vendors that show continued support our organization and our members.

We had a record turnout for the 8th Annual Skatefest! A big thank-you to the committee led by Tom Phillips for their efforts organizing this event and to our sponsors Air Comfort and The Stone Group. This year the event was hosted at the new Morgan Park Sports Complex on 115th and Western. While we have had a fantastic time in the past at Evergreen Ice Rink, the board was excited to try out the new facility and to be indoors!

I look forward to seeing everyone at the March meeting.
