President’s Message October 2013

We began our new season of monthly meetings this past month with the 73rd Annual Golf Outing at Cog Hill. The support of our members and vendors made the event a success. I would like to this time to thank everyone; attendees, our generous sponsors and, of course, the committee, for all their hard work to make this year’s outing a success.

The next event is our annual Oktoberfest hosted at Local 399 on October 16th. This event always proves to be a popular and fun event. These meetings are a great way to network with vendors and learn more about their products and services. Also, visit our event sponsors at their sponsor tables to see their latest product and service offerings.

With football season in full stride, fall has definitely arrived. With winter quick on the approach, I know some of you took advantage of the summer months to clean your boiler and heating equipment. With our unexpected temperature changes and flash storms, I implore everyone to prepare for anything weather-wise this winter.

The fall weather also provides savings opportunities by utilizing cooling economizer systems in buildings. These systems use the cool, outdoor air to supplement their systems and delay the start time on their chillers. This reduces energy consumption and extends the life of the chiller unit, which adds up to significant savings.

Please keep our Associate Members in mind when ordering supplies or during maintenance periods. They are a great resource for specific materials and services, and can assist you in developing operating enhancement programs and replacement cost analysis for justifying capital expenditures.

I hope everyone that attended the golf outing thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and I’ll see you at Oktoberfest!
