StacoVAR® Mini Extended kvar Range Chosen as Money-Saving Product by BUILDINGS Magazine

Dayton, Ohio – Staco Energy Products is proud to announce that BUILDINGS magazine has selected their StacoVAR® mini extended kvar range as a 2013 Money-Saving Product winner. The StacoVAR® mini is part of an elite group of 53 products that is showcased in the magazine’s June 2013 issue.

Finalists were evaluated by the BUILDINGS editorial staff for the money-saving qualities they offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy consumption, water savings, lighting, envelope improvement, and maintenance.

The award-winning product can be seen here or on the Staco website at

This cost-effective, wall mountable automatic power factor correction bank includes a microprocessor based controller which automatically adjusts to system load conditions – thus maintaining the desired power factor. StacoVAR® mini extended kvar range is ideal for many industrial and commercial environments which rely on inherently inefficient motors for air conditioning/heating and air movement, pumps, manufacturing or warehousing equipment and more. These motors typically produce poor power factor which can manifest itself in higher utility bills due to penalties and surcharges for poor power factor. Models are available from 11.5 to 28 kvar at 208V, 15 to 37.5 kvar at 240V, and 28 to 75 kvar at 480V.

“If utility invoicing includes terms like ‘KVA demand’ or ‘adjusted (or billed) kw demand’ or ‘reactive power’” said Rich Zuccaro, Staco Power Factor Program Manager, “then they are likely paying a penalty or surcharge for poor power factor. If that is the case, then they can benefit from StacoVAR® mini extended kvar range technology – often achieving payback in two years or less. In addition to being cost-effective, this product is space-efficient, occupying a small footprint.”
