President’s Message May 2013

What an incredible turnout at the St. Patrick’s Day meeting at the Irish American Heritage Center. With over 400 attendees, delicious food, and great music it was surely a night that will be remembered! I would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support: Fieldstone Building, Parkway Elevators, Preservation Services, The Hill Group and Able Engineering with their sponsorship of The Boils.

May is a busy month wrapping up our meeting season before our summer break. We begin the month with the annual Vendor Appreciation Night at Carmichael’s Steakhouse on May 1st. I welcome the Associate members to join the Board members for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and take this time to voice your comments on the organization, educational meetings, and the magazine. We, as an organization, truly appreciate your support throughout the year and we want to thank you, as well as discuss what can be done to better your membership.

The general monthly meeting will also be at Carmichael’s Steakhouse in The Warehouse on May 15th. I encourage everyone to attend as we will be drawing the Harley Raffle Winner! We will also be drawing a winner for a $500 gift card for all new members that joined at the March and April meetings.

Coming up after our summer break is the 73rd Annual Golf Outing which will be held at Cog Hill Golf Course this year. Please be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible because this event fills up extremely fast. Contact Kevin Kenzinger at [email protected] or 312.296.5603 to book a foursome or secure your sponsorship today. We are excited to try this new location and look forward to a great outing!

With this wavering weather it doesn’t seem like we will see extreme heat anytime soon, but we all know it’s coming. Now is the time to ensure that the chillers and absorbers are in excellent working order and that all equipment is ready. Tenant comfort is paramount to making employees and residents happy. Clean, safe equipment will not only give us happy tenants, it will let us operate an energy efficient building. As always, please remember to utilize our Associate members when updating or servicing any equipment. The talent we have within our organization is extraordinary and is a great resource. Please remember to tell them you found them from the Chief Engineers Association.

I wish everyone a wonderful summer break filled with family, friends, and fun and I look forward to seeing all of you at the Golf Outing.
