President’s Message September 2012

As summer draws to an end, we welcome everyone back to the monthly meetings. September kicks off with the 72nd Annual Golf Outing at St. Andrew’s Golf Course in West Chicago. With two sold out courses and an abundance of sponsors, I am positive this will be an exciting event.

Oktoberfest is not far behind and will be taking place October 17th at Local 399 Union Hall. This is another very well attended meeting and I look forward to seeing everyone after the summer break. We have a few sponsorship opportunities still available for this event. If you are interested please contact Alex at the office 708.293.1720.

I would also like to take this time to thank our dedicated Associate members for their support of these events. Their contributions make these meetings possible and the Chief Engineers Association is very appreciative. The immense support shown for the golf outing is an example of their dedication to the organization and demonstrates the vital role they play.

With winter just around the corner, I encourage Chiefs to start thinking about servicing their boilers. It is somewhat unbelievable to be thinking about 30 degree temperatures when we were sweltering in 100 degree weather not too long ago. However, you can never be too prepared. It is extremely important to stay on top of things to ideally prevent or be ready for any breakdowns. Another imperative aspect is to make sure you have enough inventory of winter items such as salt for snow melting purposes.

With the milder weather upon us, this is a great time to have your heating units serviced to ensure they are in proper working order. Please utilize the Quick Shopper to find Associate members who can help in these departments. We have a wealth of expertise in our group and I highly encourage everyone to use our members first. Remember to tell them you found their name from the Chief Engineers Association!

Lastly, I would like to acknowledge and thank all those who serve our country. Each September we are solemnly reminded of the tragedies that struck our country 11 years ago. Everyday men and women fight for our rights. Please keep them and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
