President’s Message June 2013

It’s finally summer in Chicago! I hope you all are able to get out and enjoy the warm weather with your family and friends. A reminder to members, due to many people’s busy schedules during the summer, we do not meet for monthly educational meetings. However, the Board members and office staff are still hard at work planning for the next meeting season.

Preparation for the 73rd Annual Golf Outing is well underway. Thanks to countless contributors and supporters of this historic golf outing we have had a record amount of golfers and hole sponsors each year. St. Andrew’s has been a fantastic host for many years, however this year the golf outing will take place at Cog Hill Golf Course in hopes of being able to accommodate all interested participants. There are still opportunities for involvement as a hole sponsor or in the select few foursomes available. We also welcome anyone to join us for dinner at the end of the day. Contact Kevin Kenzinger at [email protected] or 312.296.5603 to book a foursome or secure your sponsorship today.

Last month’s meeting at Carmichael’s Steakhouse was a huge success. I would like to thank Able Engineering, Atlas Sales, and Glavin Security Systems for their support and sponsorship of this event. The attendance at all of the meetings this year has been incredible. The Chief Engineers Association has and continues to be a strong organization with much support from its members. I am grateful to all that devote their time to attending the events. I am confident of the value our organization continues to bring to its members.

The summer months prove to be a busy time for engineers and vendors. With the increasing temperatures comes the increase in traffic through our buildings and additional maintenance needs. Tenant and employee comfort is key especially with the extreme heat we often experience in Chicago. Creating open lines of communication with occupants of the building is important and assists in a smooth transition between heating and cooling seasons. Constant maintenance and preventative servicing of chillers and cooling towers is also imperative. As always, please remember our Associate members when performing these tasks. We have an extremely talented group and I would be remiss not to recommend any of our members.

Safe travels to anyone taking summer vacations with their loved ones! Enjoy the warm weather!
