From a 1941 Wind Tunnel to A 2012 Semi-Anechoic Sound Chamber: Modine Tech Center

Wind Tunnel #2 is one of the most advanced centers in North America. The room has the capacity to replicate most any place on Earth on a given day of the year.

Employees refer to Wind Tunnel #1 as “the wind tunnel that started it all.” Built in 1941, it has been used to test everything from tractors to Army jeeps, to cars and ventilation equipment. The wind tunnel is still powered by a Hamilton Standard propeller from a B-10 Bomber, coupled with a 500 horsepower Allis Chalmers electric motor.
