Dominican University Upgrades and Saves With Nicor Rebate

DRF's Scott Schnurr, Dominican University President Donna M. Carroll and Nicor Gas president Beth Reese pose with the check the university recieved through their participation in Nicor EEP's Business Custom Incentive Program.

The Result
Nicor confirmed that the project was complete and eligible for the rebate on July 25th, 2012. Although the project was initially designed to save 70,000 therms, Nicor confirmed that the project achieved almost double the estimated result. The final savings was estimated at 132,376 therms, resulting in a rebate incentive of $132,376. This is currently the largest amount that Nicor has given out under it’s rebate program. Additionally, Dominican University was able to shut down its large boiler during the summer months and will find plenty to do with the economic savings they will realize for years to come.

The Chief Engineer would like to thank Matt Brickey and Metropolitan Industries for sharing this story with our readers and letting them know that economic savings are still available to operating engineers through the utility rebate programs.
