A new user’s manual provides users with a better understanding of the design,
installation and operation requirements in ASHRAE’s ventilation standard.
The Standard 62.1 User’s Manual explains the requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE
Standard 62.1-2004, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, and contains
numerous examples of their application in an easy-to-follow question and answer
Because the standard is written in code-intended language, such material could
not be included in the standard itself, so the manual helps users better understand
the intent and apply it to their work,” Dennis Stanke, chair of the Standard
62.1 committee, said. “It helps users understand what Standard 62.1 requires
and how those requirements can be met. It’s a document that designers
have needed for many years and will find useful for many years to come.”
The manual includes a CD containing a spreadsheet to assist in the standard’s
new ventilation rate procedure calculations.
The manual was developed through ASHRAE research and partially funded by
the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Air-Conditioning and
Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council.

Universal Lighting Technologies announces the latest in high efficiency T5 ballasts
with the release of their new AccuStart T5 ballasts for use with F28T5 lamps.
With an increase in efficiency of 8% over standard T5 ballasts, the new AccuStart5
ballasts are the most efficient ballasts for operating F28T5 lamps. They are
ideal for use to maximize energy savings in today’s new high performance T5 luminaires.
The new AccuStart5 2-lamp ballasts are available with two different ballast
factor options, .95 and 1.15, to allow for flexibility in lighting design layouts.
also feature programmed start technology for long lamp life, universal input
voltage, and end-of-lamp life shutdown circuitry with auto-reset that is
necessary for use with T5 diameter lamps. With ballast efficiency almost 8%
standard T5 ballasts, its high efficiency operation makes it easier to comply
with the new ASHRAE 90.1 standard for lighting power density.
AccuStart5 High Efficiency ballasts are ideal for offices, classrooms, and
