Two Cleaver Brooks, 125 BHp, fire-tube, boilers provide heating service for the facility and three, 39.5 ton, Carrier, R-22 chillers furnish the air conditioning. Two, A.O. Smith 150 gallon, stage fired water heaters provide domestic hot water and rooftop, air-cooled condensers and Liebert package units provide supplemental cooling throughout the 175,000 square foot facility.
Located on seventeen and a-half acres, the facility’s ventilation is provided through nine air-handlers feeding 300 VAV boxes.
Arturo Velasquez Institute is a model for meeting the needs of a new generation of Chicagoans as well as a model for providing urban services at a minimal cost environmentally.
