One warm day in April and we, as engineers, are all reminded that hot weather is just around the corner. Now is the time to ensure that the chillers and absorbers are in excellent working order and that all equipment is ready for the full-blown heat we all know is coming. Tenant comfort is paramount to making happy tenants and it is our job to ensure that we have happy tenants. Clean, safe equipment will not only give us happy tenants, it will let us operate an energy efficient building.
In addition, part of our job is the security of our buildings. As we watch the daily news we are sometimes painfully reminded that there is much unrest in other parts of the world, and that unrest, in some ways, can directly affect us. Please remind your employees and tenants to be ever vigilant when entering or leaving their buildings. Watch for suspicious packages and don’t be afraid to report something that “just doesn’t look right.”
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Chicagoland Roofing Council for sponsoring the April meeting. They provided a lot of useful information regarding Chicago Codes and the Roofing Industry Contractors Licensing Act. This is an example of the fine work done by our Associate Member companies. Thank you to all in attendance and I hope to see each and every one of you at the May meeting, to be held May 20th, and sponsored by Metropolitan Industries.
To our Associate Members: Please don’t forget to attend our Vendor Appreciation night to be held at Carmichaels Restaurant on May 4th. This night is for you. Join us for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and take the opportunity to voice your comments on the organization, the magazine, the educational meetings, and how we can make things better for you. We welcome your feedback.
If you haven’t already done so, please make your reservations for the annual golf outing held in September. Contact the office at 708.293.1720 or Jim Cacciottolo at 312.307.4333. This event always sells out early so don’t wait too long to make that phone call.
As summer approaches, please remember to be careful in all of your activities. Take this time and spend it with your family and friends and create memories that will last a lifetime. Enjoy our summer break and I look forward to seeing everyone at the golf outing; and if not there, then at the kick-off Octoberfest meeting.
Please remember our Associate vendors as you prepare for the summer. They are your best source for the latest products and services available to help you in your job. Give them a call and let them quote on your next project.
Keep our young men and women in the armed forces in your prayers. They sacrifice a lot to keep this country safe. It is the least we can do.
