Hackers can unlock Tesla cars by stealing owners’ passwords.
A security researcher reported that the password created by Tesla car owners can be easily obtained via brute force attacks due to it only containing six letters and numbers, allowing attackers to track the location of Tesla cars or unlock the door locks remotely. The remote management API also may share credentials with untrusted third parties that could also lead to security issues.

Dyson recalls bladeless portable electric heaters due to fire hazard.
Dyson announced a recall of around 393,000 Dyson Hot and Dyson Hot+Cool bladeless heaters in the U.S. and Canada due to the heaters’ potential to develop an electrical short and overheat, posing a fire hazard.

ExxonMobil to restart Texas segment of Pegasus pipeline.
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration approved March 31 the restart of a section of ExxonMobil Pipeline Company’s Pegasus pipeline that runs through Texas, at reduced pressure, after the pipeline was shut down in March 2013 due to an incident where the pipeline ruptured and spilled several thousand barrels of heavy crude and industry diluents.

Firm fined $50,000 in Indiana State Fair collapse.
The Indiana Department of Labor announced March 31 that Mid-America Sound Corp., of Greenfield was fined $50,000 for safety violations related to a stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair in 2011 that killed 7 people and injured more than 40 others.

Chrysler recalls over 850,000 S.U.V.s.
Chrysler announced a recall April 2 for over 850,000 model year 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles, around 644,000 located in the U.S., due to the potential for water to enter the vehicles’ brake boosters or a loss of vacuum that could make braking more difficult.
