Fake SSL certificates used to impersonate Facebook, Google, banks.
Netcraft researchers discovered a large number of fake SSL certificates in the wild purporting to be from banks, social networks, payment providers, and other services which could be used by attackers to conduct man-in-the-middle attacks. The researchers warned that mobile banking apps are especially vulnerable because they may not adequately check the validity of SSL certificates.

18 NC patients may have been exposed to rare brain disease.
Officials from Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston- Salem announced that 18 neurological patients may have been exposed to Creutzfeldt – Jakob disease after being operated on in January by surgeons who used tools that had not been sufficiently sterilized after they were used on a man suspected of having the disease. The hospital stated that the possibility of contracting the disease through surgical exposure is remote.

Truck manufacturer recalls 21,000 Kenworth, Peterbilt.
Paccar announced two recalls affecting around 21,000 model year 2013 and 2014 Kenworth and Peterbilt semi-trucks of various models due to issues with door latches and seat belt buckles.

University of Miami Health System loses records including Social Security numbers.
The University of Miami Health System notified an indeterminate number of patients of its Department of Otolaryngology that while attempting to retrieve records stored at an offsite storage vendor in June 2013, they were informed by the vendor that patients’ billing records were lost. A follow-up search in August confirmed that the records were not in possession of the university or the storage vendor.
