Shopping cart malware compromises credit card information.
Two Web sites belonging to the Outdoor Network had their shopping cart systems infected with malware, possible compromising customers’ names, addresses, credit card numbers, CVV codes, and card expiration dates. The compromise affects transaction made between December 2012 and July 2013.

Hawaii warns swimmers molasses spill could draw sharks.
The Hawaii Department of Health increased the number of cleanup crews to remove hundreds of fish after a 1,400 ton molasses spill September 9 and warned swimmers, snorkelers, and surfers to stay out of the water as the spill has attracted sharks, barracuda, and eel.

Hacker gains access to U of C patient records.
Tinley-Park based ICS Collection Service Inc., a collection agency that was once retained by the University of Chicago, notified the university that a hacker gained access to roughly 1,344 patient files from the University of Chicago Medicine’s physicians group in July. The breach of information occurred within ICS Collection Service Inc.’s network and included Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and insurance and payment information.

Wisconsin DOT classifies 60-some bridges as deficient, ‘fracture critical.’
Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials designated about 60 bridges as “fracture critical” and “structurally deficient,” indicating that they are more vulnerable to deterioration or failure.

Do you trust your waiter? Hacked bank-card reader TEXTS your info to crims.
A video advertising a compromised card reader was discovered on underweb forums that allows a customer’s card info to be retained and extracted via a cable or by text message if the device is fitted with a SIM card. The sellers of the device also offer a money laundering service to buyers of the device that utilizes a network of corrupt merchants.
