Hacktivists from the Syrian Electronic Army compromised several Twitter and Facebook accounts belonging to the New York Post after gaining access by breaching the systems of social media optimization service SocialFlow through phishing.

A couple in Houston reported that an attacker hijacked an Internet- connected baby monitor, yelling through its speakers and controlling its camera.

Hundreds of dead fish found in pond at National Mall.
National Park Service crews will test the water and algae levels at the Constitution Gardens pond in the National Mall August 15 after roughly 1,000 dead fish were found floating in the pond. Officials claimed the number is not unusual for the pond due to the construction and design of the area.

Philips Lighting recalls Endura and Ambient LED bulbs due to shock hazard.
Philips Lighting announced a recall of about 99,000 Endura and Ambient LED light bulbs due to a lead wire in the bulb having an improper fitting which can electrify the lamp and create a shock hazard.
