California accuses JPMorgan of fraud in credit-card- debt collection.
The Attorney General of California announced a lawsuit against JPMorgan that alleges the bank used fraudulent and unlawful practices when it filed more than 100,000 credit card debt lawsuits against consumers between 2008 and 2011.

8 New Yorkers indicted as part of $45 million cyberheist of prepaid debit cards.
Eight individuals were indicted in New York City for their alleged role in a cybercrime campaign that stole $45 million by hacking a MasterCard credit card processor, manipulating pre-paid debit cards issued by banks in the Middle East, and then withdrawing the money from ATMs.

Two arrests in alleged $100K copper theft.
Two men were arrested for the alleged theft of $100,000 in copper from Progress Energy Carolinas, including wire from light poles and cell phone towers throughout three North Carolina counties, after they were caught allegedly trying to sell the stolen materials to a recycling facility in Virginia. The utility company has begun replacing copper wire with copper-clad wire due to increased copper theft.

Privacy breach on Bloomberg’s data terminals.
Bloomberg confirmed that reporters at its Bloomberg News division had had access to certain user information from customers using the company’s financial data terminals service before a complaint prompted the access to be disabled.

Chrysler recalls 469,000 SUVs over gearshift problem.
Chrysler announced the recall of 469,000 model year 2006-2010 Jeep Commander and 2005-2010 Grand Cherokee vehicles, 295,000 in the U.S., due to a software defect that inadvertently sends signals to the transmission to shift to neutral.
