The Chief Engineers Association is off to a great start this year. We have a full schedule of educational and social meetings planned for the members. Also, the Board of Directors will be meeting in mid February for their annual retreat. This time is used to take an in depth look at the organization; where we are in relation to years past and what we can do to improve in the future. Committees also meet to formulate their plans for the year. I am confident 2013 will be a great year for the organization.
I would also like to take this time to thank all of our members or their dedication and support to the Chief Engineers Association. Associate members keep the monthly educational meetings going with their sponsorships and advertising in the magazine. Active Members, we are grateful for your commitment to attending the monthly meetings and for being loyal to the Associate members. One of the goals of the association is to bring both the Active and Associate members together in a professional arena to network and build relationships. I feel we have succeeded this goal with your support in the past year and I look forward to what the future holds.
I am proud to announce the 3rd Annual Skatefest event will be taking place on February 2nd at Evergreen Park Ice Rink. This is a great event for the whole family and is free to all members. There will be ice skating, games, refreshments, a keepsake mug and fun for all! I hope to see all of you there! Also coming up, the annual St. Patrick’s day party at the Irish American Heritage Center on March 20th. Please keep an eye out for details and make plans to attend. This is a great event with very high attendance.
As usual, the Chicago weather keeps us guessing, but it finally appears as if winter has hit. I encourage you to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the building occupants and visitors as winter conditions can lead to accidents and injuries. Believe it or not, even with these cold temperatures it is also time to start thinking about preparing your building for the spring. Please keep the Associate members in mind when making plans to service equipment or make any necessary repairs. The Quick Shopper is a wonderful resource listing all the Associate Members by industry and service categories. This list can be found on the website as well (www.chiefengineer.org).
With the many events we have coming up this year there are abundant opportunities to sponsor a meeting. This is a great way for Associate members to get involved and have their name on the top of the engineers’ minds. If any members are interested in sponsorship contact the office (708.293.1720) and ask to speak with Alex.
I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming events!
