Spirax Sarco Improves Its Energy Intensity Of 16% Against Its Baseline Year

Blythewood, SC – Spirax Sarco has been commended by the U.S. Department of Energy on its energy efficiency accomplishment over the past year. As a Partner of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings, Better Plants Program, Spirax Sarco has joined over 100 other industrial firms in a voluntary pledge to reduce the corporate-wide energy intensity of their manufacturing operations by 25% in 10 years. Spirax Sarco’s most recent annual report showed a cumulative improvement in energy intensity of 16% against its baseline year, placing them well on their way to meeting their pledge target.

“Spirax Sarco’s efforts are helping the nation benefit from energy efficiency. Along with other partners of the Better Building, Better Plants Program, Spirax Sarco’s actions will save billions in energy costs, create new manufacturing jobs, strengthen the nation’s economic competitiveness, and help protect the environment,” says Kathleen Hogan, Acting Program Manager of the Advanced Manufacturing Office and Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for the U.S. Department of Energy.

The Better Building, Better Plants Program is a national leadership initiative that challenges manufacturers to make energy efficiency a sound business practice, establish strong energy management plants, benefit from the savings that result, and provide a model for others.
